چکیده

The long-standing puzzle of the nonlocal EPR correlations is solved. We show that there is no spooky action-at-a-distance at work in establishing the quantum correlations. The correct quantum mechanical correlations arise for the case of entangled particles under strict locality obeyed by the hidden variable used and by the rules for outcomes of measurements. The crucial input is the correct rule specified by complex numbers, without generating negative probabilities. Our approach shows that the EPR paradox of simultaneous reality for incompatible physical variables arise from their restrictive definition of

action-at-a-distance in quantum correlations: Resolution of the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen nonlocality puzzle

The long-standing puzzle of the nonlocal Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen correlations is resolved. The correct quantum mechanical correlations arise for the case of entangled particles when strict locality is assumed for the probability amplitudes instead of locality for probabilities. Locality of amplitudes implies that measurement on one particle does not collapse the companion particle to a definite...

Quantum correlations from local amplitudes and the resolution of the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen nonlocality puzzle

The Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen nonlocality puzzle has been recognized as one of the most important unresolved issues in the foundational aspects of quantum mechanics. We show that the problem is more or less entirely resolved if the quantum correlations are calculated directly from local quantities which preserve the phase information in the quantum system. We assume strict locality for the probab...

Bell Inequality and Many-Worlds Interpretation

Bell’s work [1] led to a revolution in our understanding of Nature. I remember attending my first physics conference on “Microphysical Reality and Quantum Formalism,” in Urbino, 1985. Most of the talks were about Aspect’s experiment [2] confirming the nonlocality of quantum mechanics based on the experimental violations of Bell’s inequalities. Although I did not share the skepticism of many spe...

Randomness, nonlocality, and information in entangled correlations.

It is shown that the Einstein, Podolsky and Rosen (EPR) correlations for arbitrary spin-s and the Greenberger, Horne and Zeilinger (GHZ) correlations for three particles can be described by nonlocal joint and conditional quantum probabilities. The nonlocality of these probabilities makes the Bell’s inequalities void. A description that exhibits the relation between the randomness and the nonloc...
